About Billy

Billy Baucom joined Founders Legal in October 2023 as a Senior Associate in our Corporate Practice Group. He’s a ‘big-law’ trained corporate attorney with a wide range of commercial and transactional experience.

Billy spent the first five years of his career working at Troutman Pepper (AM50) where he represented clients in structuring, drafting, and negotiating day-to-day, multimillion-dollar, and ‘bet-the-farm’ transactions related to mergers and acquisitions, licensing of intellectual property rights and technology, sponsorship and merchandising, complex outsourcing and supply arrangements, and unique teaming initiatives and joint ventures. Billy then refined his expertise at a boutique wealth preservation, asset protection, and business succession practice focusing on small (not so small) business owners. 

He’s a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he garnered distinction as both a member of the Order of the Wig and Robe and a recipient of the Richard J. Foster Award. He also holds a BA in Psychology with a minor in History from the University of North Carolina.

Billy is committed to community service, and was previously awarded the Glenda Hatchett Volunteer Attorney of the Year for the Truancy Intervention Project.
